What we do with your information.

Short version: we collect what you send us, we use it to reply to you and to do the work, we don’t sell it to anyone, and you can ask us to delete it.

What we collect, and why

If you contact us

Your name, company, email, phone number if you give it, and whatever you write in the message. We use it to reply and to have a conversation about whether we can help. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — responding to someone who has approached us.

If you become a client

Contact details for the people we deal with, and access to the financial records we’re engaged to work on. Those records may contain personal data about your staff, your customers and your suppliers.

In that situation you are the data controller and we are a data processor. We only process that data on your instructions, under a written agreement, and we don’t use it for anything else.

If we’re required to identify you

Anti-money laundering rules require us to verify the identity of clients and their beneficial owners, and to keep records of having done so. We may use electronic verification services for this. Our lawful basis is legal obligation.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking of any kind. There is nothing here to consent to.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of service providers — email and file storage, and a form provider that delivers messages from this website. They process data on our behalf under contract and cannot use it for their own purposes.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it for marketing. We will disclose information where the law requires it — for example a court order, or a report we are legally obliged to make.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don’t become work: up to twelve months, then deleted.

Client records: for the duration of the engagement and then six years, which is the period we’re required to retain them. Identity verification records are kept for five years after the relationship ends.

Where it’s held

Within the UK and the European Economic Area wherever possible. Where a provider processes data elsewhere, it is under safeguards permitted by UK data protection law.

Your rights

• Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy
• Ask us to correct anything that’s wrong
• Ask us to delete it, where we’re not required to keep it
• Ask us to restrict what we do with it, or object to it
• Ask for it in a portable format

If you’re a client and the request concerns records we process on your behalf, we’ll pass it to you, as you are the controller.

Complaints

Tell us first and we’ll try to put it right. If you’re not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes

If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top. Material changes affecting existing clients will be notified directly.
